Turn our frowns upside down?
Mostly, we need to take a look at our frowns and see what they’re telling us.
We can’t just “positive” all the hard stuff away.. and we shouldn’t want to.
Within difficult emotions are contained countless pieces of information about who we are and what we need. These emotions, when managed in healthy ways, can show us how to lead our lives in rich and wonderful directions. In other words, we need them!
Unfortunately, we’re not taught how to manage them or use them well and with purpose – only how to deny them. We live in a society that pressures us to appear “happy” so that we don’t upset the people around us or demand better from our broken systems.
There are times, of course, when we’re simply being overly negative about any given topic or experience, and we just need to shake ourselves out of it with a bit of gratitude or something silly or fun. For sure.
Mostly, though, we need to spend some time reflecting on our reasons for feeling the way that we do. Not the surface or superficial reasons – the REAL reasons.
What is your frown trying to tell you?
